Survey Technician

Coffman Land is looking for a full-time Survey Technician for both field and office duties to support a fast-growing survey department on projects throughout San Diego County. The candidate will be a detail oriented, self-motivated individual who wants to be part of a fast-paced team that provides an array of surveying services for civil engineering support, construction support and land development projects.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Show experience in land surveying or a related field

  • Show experience using basic computer software (ie. Microsoft Excel and Word)

  • Knowledge with Autodesk Products, specifically Civil 3D

  • Ability to work outdoors under various field conditions and weather

  • Willingness and ability to adjust to a flexible work schedule

  • Good communication, organization, and problem solving skills

  • Must have valid driver’s license

Possible Responsibilities:

  • Process field data into topographic surveys and ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys.

  • Support field crew efforts including preparing map calculations

  • Prepare exhibits, maps, records of survey and easement descriptions.

  • Provide construction staking calculations to field crew

  • Ability to execute field staking and work outside year round

  • Providing assistance to Surveyor or Crew Chief in regards to layout and measurements

 

An ideal candidate would also have:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfortable interacting with clients

  • Knowledge of the principles, techniques and practices of land surveying

  • Experience and knowledge of performing land title & mapping research

  • 2 + years' of CAD experience relating to survey and/or engineering

  • Microstation experience a plus

  • Knowledge of other related technical software (Trimble Business Center, GIS, etc)

  • Knowledge and experience with UAV data collection and processing

  • Skills using conventional survey equipment, GPS, Robotic Total Stations, and Data Collectors

  • Experience with scanning or other non-traditional surveying technologies

 

The candidate will be responsible for performing various land survey tasks under the direction of a registered land surveyor or crew chief. Field work will include boundary & topographic surveys and construction layout. Office work will include creating CAD exhibits and plats from field data and mapping existing utilities and underground infrastructure from data collection and existing plans.

Pay: (negotiable depending on experience and skills)
